During a press conference at the Lemont Fire Protection District on March 27, Biggert handed HTFPD Chief Michael Schofield a check for $948,000 to fund the hiring of nine new firefighters.

The Senate passed a bill Thursday that would refocus some
Energy Department efforts to transfer advanced energy
technology from national laboratories to businesses and nonprofit
institutions. The Energy Technology Transfer Act (H.R.
85) passed the Senate as part of the Consolidated Natural
Resources Act (S. 2739) in a vote of 91-4. The measure,
originally introduced by Illinois Republican Representative Judy
Biggert, passed the House in 2007.
